The demanding social life of a post-grad or college student means an empty wallet to go along with it. Between late night pizza, drinks at the bars, and Sunday brunch with your besties. That entry-level paycheck, or allowance from mom and dad never really lasts as long as you need it to.

I’m broke!

I need more money!

I am literally so poor right now!

These are all things we have found ourselves saying at one point or another.  And in that moment it feels so true. We scour the internet, googling phrases like “How to make money fast” and “Easiest ways to make money.” Only to find ourselves disappointed when we sign up for survey and paid search sites that don’t pay out as big as we want them too.

Now over the years, I’ve come to find that making some extra cash isn’t nearly as hard as our failed google searches made us believe. Even with that busy schedule, there are simple and flexible ways to MAKE DAT MONEY $! These tips will not make you rich overnight, but they will pad your wallet. Helping you stay in the social game and on top of your bills until your next payday!

So here is the tea. There are three things I am currently signed up for that have added an extra couple hundred dollars to my income each month.

  1. Buy & Selling Apps
  2. Service Apps
  3. Cash Back & Rewards Programs

Buy & Selling Apps

We all have items and clothing we are ready to part ways with. So why sit on them when they are ready to be turned into money in the bank! Buy & Sell apps can be a great source of additional revenue. The most time-consuming part will be making your individual item listings. Though once those are up, you just sit back and watch the buyers roll in. This strategy is typically not an overnight fix to reeling in the dough, but with your sales, wo(man) hat on I found that you can usually pull in an extra $100 or so each month.

My inventory is definitely heavy in the clothing department, so I usually lean towards using apps with more like-minded buyers. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Poshmark
  • Mercari
  • Depop
  • Declutter
  • Curtys
  • Letgo

Service Apps

With a busy schedule, I found that joining service apps as a contracted employee is a great way to make extra cash.  What I like most about these opportunities is that they are so much more flexibility than a traditional part-time job. If you find yourself with no plans for the weekend or a couple of extra hours between classes, you can work these into your schedule right from your phone. If you don’t have the time, simply set your away status and get on with your life.

With my schedule and lifestyle, I have found that apps like Wag and Rover work well for me. I am a dog lover, but don’t have the time to be a full-time puppy parent right now. With these apps, I get the best of both worlds. Hanging out with furry friends and an extra $200 plus in my account each month.

Dogs aren’t for you? Check out other service-based apps on the market:

  • Wag
  • Rover
  • Task Rabbit
  • Lyft
  • Uber
  • Instacart

Cash Back & Rewards Programs

Make your money work for you! Sometimes spending is inventible. We live in a commerce based society, and that’s just how the cookie crumbles. If you have to spend, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to spend full price. There are tons of ways to save and get money back on purchases. This process may take a bit longer, but when you do cash out it’s well worth the wait.

Ebates is my favorite service for this, so quick plug here it comes…

Ebates is an amazing program that offers its users cash back on purchases from over 2,500 retailers. Offers range anywhere from 1-12% cash back but have been known to go even higher. Over some holiday’s I’ve seen offers for as great as 22% cash back! That’s a lot of cash back, huh?! While most offers are not usually that high, Ebates still offers a great range of savings.

Users can choose to shop directly off the Ebates.com website or from the Ebates app. If you’re like me and never want to miss out on a chance to save, you can download the web browsers extension. The extension is a small button in your navigation bar which links your shopping trip to your Ebates account, and lets you know if there are any promo codes you can use.

Give it a whirl, new users get a $10 bonus!

I am all about maximizing my earning potential, some other cash back and rewards option in my finical toolkit includes:

  • Ebates
  • Ibotta
  • Drop
  • PockPoints
  • Cash Back Credit Card

With any of these options, you get what you give in. These are just some of the strategies that have worked for me. What is your game plan for making extra cash?!
